The Business Financial Plan team of Rachel Clymer, Shane Keslar and Ashleigh Teten placed second at the FBLA State Leadership Conference held in Omaha on April 7-9. This qualifies the team for the FBLA National Leadership Conference held in Orlando
June 26-July 2.
Ashleigh Teten was elected the 2011-2012 State FBLA Treasurer. She will be attending a variety of leadership workshops, meetings, and the NLC in the coming year. She also received the All-State Quality Member Award and honorable mention in Business Calculations.
State President Tyler Wellman led the general sessions at the SLC. Wellman was runner-up for Who’s Who in FBLA. He placed fourth in Advanced Accounting, sixth in Electronic Career Portfolio, and ninth in Future Business Leader. He also received a $100 Phi Beta Lambda Scholarship and a $250 FBLA Scholarship. Wellman will receive the National Business Achievement America Award at the NLC and represent Nebraska with the State Annual Business Report.
Also finishing in the top eight were Allison Moore, sixth in Job Interview; Connor Bohlken, eighth in Accounting; Bohlken, Keslar, and Wellman, fifth in Emerging Business Issues; and Mitch Kunz, Moore, and Wellman, seventh in Business Plan.
Receiving honorable mentions, which means they placed in the top five percent were: Rachel Clymer in Marketing and Personal Finance; Mattie Wilkinson in Proofreading; and Connor Bohlken and Allison Moore in Business Calculations.
The chapter received the Sweepstakes Award and was recognized for their scrapbook, donating money to the March of Dimes and for coordinating the state project of collecting funds for the Nebraska FBLA Foundation and placing third with their donation of $575.
Allison Moore was recognized for Who’s Who in Nebraska FBLA. Members receiving the All-State Quality Member Award were Rachel Clymer, Shane Keslar, Mitch Kunz, Stephanie Rodgers, Brittany Siepelmeier, Ashleigh Teten, and Kaitlyn Watermeier. Adviser Susan Wellman was recognized for serving as an FBLA adviser for 15 years.
Other members attending were Sarah Pietzyk, Macy Clark, Cassi Rippe, Kendall Hallstrom, Hanna Morrison, Paige Zastera, Emily Harsin, Haley Harsin, Savannah Zimmer, Mitch Goering, Garrett Sand, Landon Zimmer, Marty Kreifels, Skyler Teten, Brett Weiler, Harrison Agena and Mitchell Stilmock. They were among over 2000 students registered for the conference and in most events, students were competing against 300-400 FBLA members from across the state. When not taking tests or campaigning, members attended a variety of seminars and general sessions. Grant Baldwin was the featured speaker.
