Homecoming Week Festivities
Homecoming festivities are underway at Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca High School this week. The theme for the week is Mardi Gras. Before school, teams of students are competing to see whom the remaining survivors will be for the final competition to win the Sole Survivor title on Friday at the pep rally. The pep rally is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. at the football field. The public is invited to attend.
On Friday, FFA is sponsoring a tailgate party for the community before the game starting at 5:30 p.m. They will serve barbeque pork sandwiches, beans, chips and bars.
Candidates for Homecoming Royalty were announced. Freshmen candidates are Koryle Buchholz, Morgan Hansen, Jordan Lechner, McKenzie Oltjenbruns, Michael Campbell, Jonathan Draeger, Nick Reed, and Adam Vogt.
Sophomore candidates are Kaci Beckmann, Kylea Block, Katie Dettmer, Kelby Goering, Brett Copley, Andy Neels, Mitchell Ross, and Thomas Volkmer.
Junior candidates are Hilarie Damme, Chelsey Hansen, Ellen Neels, Kelly Neels, Christian Cole, Ben Johanns, Chris Parde, and Derek Rowe.
Senior candidates for King and Queen are Chelsea Block, Kayla Clymer, Amber Fandrich, Maura Rippe, Leslie Watermeier, Hydi Woods, Tyler Bassinger, Anthony Butterfield, Scott Hrabik, Austin Landwehr, Tim Reed, and Josh Stubbendick.
All candidates will be recognized during the half time of Friday's game, followed by a field show performance by the SDA Junior High Band. The coronation will take place immediately following the football game on the football field. The dance will be held Saturday, September 23.
