The Syracuse National Honor Society would like to recognize our January Rocket of the Month winners:
Our upperclassman winner - Jailei Walker was nominated by Ms. Lemmer for exemplifying leadership & character
Excerpts from her nomination:
Jailei has been a go-to person since last year. She consistently demonstrates strong leadership and character through her willingness to help, positive attitude, and commitment to excellence. Whatever she commits to, she gives 100%. Whether stepping into an acting role on short notice or taking on a leadership role, Jaili does what needs to be done without hesitation and leads by example. She brings a smile and sense of humor that puts others at ease, showing patience, kindness, and respect toward her classmates. Her actions reflect integrity, dependability, and the kind of leadership that inspires others to do their best.
Our underclassman winner - Makenna Schroeder was nominated by Ms. Sjulin for exemplifying scholarship, service, leadership and & character
Excerpts from her nomination:
When you see her around school, it is almost always accompanied with a cheerful smile and polite greeting towards her teachers and peers. Makenna exhibits all of the pillars, but her strongest is character. She has a genuine way of elevating the vibe and positive energy in class! Makenna works hard for her grades, but what impresses me most is even when she is trying to figure things out for herself, she'll stop and help anyone else who is struggling. Leadership comes naturally to her. Being involved is a big priority and she takes all of her commitments seriously and is a student you can count on. Even with that, Makenna makes time for service outside of school, where she is very active in her church.
Congratulations to Jailei and Makenna our January Rockets of the Month.

Several JAG students got excited learning about WyoTech programs and social life available in the Rocky Mountains. WyoTech is a premier trade school for automotive, diesel, welding, and trim/upholstery and most students have a job offer around $80,000 upon graduating.

Huge congratulations to John and Sharley on being selected for and attending the Nebraska Wesleyan University Honor Choir Festival over the past two days! 🎶 Way to represent!

Conference room lunches have been a HUGE hit on the school store cart recently! 🍕🍔🍴
Yesterday, the SDA music department was kindly gifted a grand piano with a rich history. 🤍🎹 Karen Kuenning was lifelong musician in the SDA community and was a 1963 Syracuse High school graduate. She started playing at church at the age of 12 and continued until September of 2025. She also directed the Children's Choir and Christmas Programs at St. John's Lutheran church. The SDA music department would like to sincerely thank the family of Karen for their generosity. Ms. Chavanu is looking forward to leading choir rehearsals with this piano in Karen's memory!

Our 3rd graders enjoying their RUNZA Raffle Lunch this week! Students work hard to earn entries into getting to get Runza for lunch and eat in the conference room. 🍟
