Kindergarten Monitor Letter 12/10/2021 Woodward

We have been notified that a student in Miss Woodward's class has tested positive for COVID-19.  The positive student was last in school on Thursday, 12/9/21.  Out of an abundance of caution and with Christmas quickly approaching, we are going to mask the entire class next week (12/13-12/17) Your child does not need to go into quarantine at this time. Instead, we ask you to be checking his/her temperature and going through the symptom checklist (Fever or chills • Cough • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing • Fatigue • Muscle or body aches • Headache • New loss of taste or smell • Sore throat • Congestion or runny nose • Nausea or vomiting • Diarrhea) twice daily until the 14 days from last exposure is up.  We are also asking students to wear a mask and use a divider at breakfast and lunch while at school.  Masks can be provided to students or you may opt to send one with your child.

Students need to wear a mask and be monitored for symptoms through Friday 12/17/21.  Students may continue with school-related activities as usual with the addition of a twice-daily survey of symptoms performed in the morning and in the evening by a parent or guardian.

Please note any student reporting a positive (yes) response to any of the above symptoms and/or a fever of 100.4 F or higher will be recommended to be sent home by the school district if occurring during the school day. Please consult your child’s provider or the health department should your student develop symptoms during this monitoring period.

Please note: a negative COVID-19 test does not rule out the possibility of infection from this exposure if performed before the end of the 14-day monitoring period. If you have any questions regarding the above recommendations, please contact the school nurse at 402-269-2382 or the Southeast District Health Department at 402-274-3993.

We know masks are not the most fun for students to wear, but we are trying to prevent any further spread so that everybody can enjoy the holidays with their family.

Thank you,
Kali Manley, RN-BSN
