Corona Virus Update
As we come to the end of the first quarter, I want to thank everyone for their patience, understanding and help as we deal with the pandemic in our school district. To date, we have had 13 students and 10 staff members who have tested positive for the Corona Virus. We currently have 8 students and 3 staff members who are not in attendance because of a positive test for the virus.
According to the Southeast Nebraska Health District, there has been a significant jump in cases across the state and in our region over the past two weeks. Otoe County has been put into the “Orange” risk category this week along with the Southeast District as a whole. Health District officials noted that community spread seems to be the driving force behind the new cases. With that in mind, SDA schools will not be moving to our alternate day schedule (Orange Plan) at this time. Instead, we will continue with our current protocols of requiring masks, practicing social distancing, emphasizing the use of hand sanitizer and disinfecting the buildings throughout the day. In the event that cases continue to increase and a decision is made to move to the alternate day schedule, that decision will be building specific and based on the number of cases and specific circumstances at each building.
We also ask for your help with encouraging your students to follow these protocols even when they are not in school. The more we all do to help reduce the spread, the better the chances of keeping our kids in school.
Thank You
