Plant and Animal Cells

Did you know that you were once a single cell? Now you have over 1 trillion cells (100,000,000,000,000)! All living things consist of cells, so plants, animals and even bacteria have cells just like we do! Today you're going to do some investigating on plant and animal cells.

 

Answer these questions:
1. What general shape is a plant cell?       
2. What general shape is an animal cell?
3. Three distinctive features are found in a plant cell. Name them.
4. Two of these features are not found at all in an
   animal cell. Which two are these?
5. Which part of a cell tends to be bigger in plant cells
   and helps store nutrients and waste products?
6. Why is an animal cell unique?
7. Define nucleus, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplast
   and mitochondria.
8. For the chart below, place a check in the box if the cell has that component.
