2009 Intergenerational Computer Class Ends
Community Members/Students Interacting and Learning

by Jane Green
May 07, 2009

The fourth Intergenerational Class with the Advanced Computer Applications Students teaching the community members ended Tuesday, May 5. Comments written by the adults included: "How nice and helpful all the young people were that helped us." "I feel the students were very knowledgeable with the computers and the Internet. Most of all, I was impressed with their respectfulness of older people." Each week the students worked with a community member that they had not worked with before. The students enjoyed these activities just as much as the adults! T. Gary Stearley, Network Administrator, taught a Tuesday session on Google. Participants learned how to navigate Google and perfected their searches to better find the information wanted. Thrivent for Luterans--Cass/Otoe Chapter once again sponsored this event for "Join Hands Day." The t-shirts worn in the pictures were given to the students and lunches were provided each Tuesday to the adults participating. Dr. Joy Stilmock and Ron Wenninghoff started the Intergenerational Class as part of "Join Hands Day" four years ago. Please consider enrolling in the free class second semester next school year.
