Students Compete in Greater Nebraska Science & Engineering Fair

Junior High Students Compete in Math Contests

The 8th grade Algebra students competed in a national math contest in November.  The AMC 8 (American Mathematics Contest) is a 25 question multiple choice test.  The test covers a wide variety of math topics as well as logic and reasoning skills.  Syracuse 8th graders have been participating in the contest for more than 20 years.  This year’s school winner is Griffin Bokamper.  Griffin’s name will be engraved on a plate and placed on a plaque in the middle school along with all of the previous . . .

Middle School Students Learn Coding Basics With Ozobots

Students tried their hands at coding while working with Ozobots in the library. Ozobots are small, but smart, robots that students can program to perform a variety of tasks. These tasks can be as simple as directing the robots to speed up or slow down; or, they can be as complex as the mind can imagine. Using the robots encourages teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, which was apparent the first time students took them out of the box. 8th Grade FFA Members Recognized

Sydney Wellsandt (left), 8th grade 4H and FFA member at the Syracuse Middle School, recently participated in the Catch-A-Calf contest at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver, Colorado.  Sydney was one of the lucky ones catching a calf.  Sydney will receive a calf from sponsors of the stock show to raise and then return to the 2018 National Western Stock Show and exhibit in the National Western Stock Show Catch-A-Calf show next January.  Congratulations, Sydney!     Madison Kreifels . . .
