JH Student Council Visits Boys Town

The Syracuse Junior High Student Council and sponsor, Sallie Agena, visited Boys Town, Thursday, May 2, 2019, for their annual field trip excursion. Members of the student council are Delainey Cast, Charys Tompkins, Eva Brammier, Jackson Nordhues, Ty Gorton, Kya Halouska, Sawyer Brammier and Ayva Swift. It was the 13th consecutive year the group chose to go to Boys Town. The students have choices on where to take their yearly trip. Every year, despite a change of members, they say, "we want to go to Boys Town." The students began the day meeting with Boys Town National Executive Director Father Steven Boes. They then went to opening at Wegner Middle School and met students their age. The tour included the Hall of History, a family home, Dowd Chapel, the National Headquarters building, and Palrang Field House.

The Student Council used to donate each year to an international organization. After visiting Boys Town for the first time 13 years ago, members voted to change our annual philanthropic donation to something local, where they see the benefits first hand. Since that time, donations from the Student Council stand at approximately $5,500. The students love going to Boys Town and enjoy helping the organization. It is a trip the students always look forward to as they complete their school year.
