SDA Junior/Senior Prom Information

SDA High School Junior/Senior Prom

The 2019 Junior/Senior Prom will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 7:15-11:15 p.m. at SDA High School.  Students who wish to attend this year’s prom must sign up at the main office during school hours by Friday, March 29 at 3:30 p.m.  Permission slips for non-SDA students are available at the main office.  Non-SDA student forms must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.  Non-SDA student forms must be completed in full prior to the Non-SDA student being added to the attendance list.

Staff, please review the procedures with juniors and seniors for prom that are found in the announcements with your home rooms.

  • All Non-SDA high school students must submit a permission form prior to signing up to attend.
  • Non-SDA high school students may be interviewed by administrators for admittance, and identification information will be requested and recorded.
  • Sign up in the main office for prom – REQUIRED.  STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO PROM IF THEIR NAME IS NOT ON THE ATTENDANCE LIST.
  • Students on the Academic Status Report will not be able to attend Prom.

In order to encourage and promote SDA High School students engaging in healthy relationships at our upcoming prom, we will prohibit lewd, provocative, and suggestive dancing and expect students to face one another and maintain an appropriate distance while dancing.  Students who follow these suggestions will help to ensure we do not create an intimidating, hostile, or offensive school dance environment.  “Prom is a formal event.  Inappropriate dancing, dress, and/or behavior may result in a student’s immediate dismissal from this activity. The following is NOT an all-inclusive list: Guys: dress pants; collared shirt, and TIE.  Girls: Long or 1-3 inch above the knee dress/skirt, slacks, or pant suit. Both: no sagging pants or provocative dress. NO JEANS.”   Students are reminded that participation in a school dance is a privilege and not a right.  Students who leave after entering the event cannot return unless escorted by a parent or guardian.

Please be advised that Alco-sensors may be utilized at the dance. Upon reasonable suspicion of alcohol use, SDA administration and the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reserve the right to check students for alcohol or drug use.  The Otoe County Sheriff’s Deputies will be present to help ensure a safe environment for the event.  The Student Code of Conduct will be applied to all students.  Please make good decisions in regards to your conduct before, during, and following the dance.
