Syracuse Dance Team Wins Big at Camp

The Syracuse Starlettes dance team attended NDA Dance Camp in Grand Island from June 23-June 25.  While there, the team learned, practiced, and performed choreography, in addition to doing flexibility warm-ups and technique classes.  The dance team had a very successful year at camp, earning both team and individual recognition and honors.

The team received a superior evaluation and won the Superior Showmanship trophy for their home routine, which was choreographed by senior captains Sage Beers, Anna Bohlken, and coach Ashley Anderson.  Additionally, they earned a superior rating and a Gold victory for the team dance choreography they learned, practiced, and polished at camp.  The team also received the Heart of Gold award, as camp staff elected them the team that demonstrated genuine acts of kindness at camp.  They were additionally voted by the other teams in attendance to receive the NDA Spirit Award trophy for their positive energy, conduct, and work ethic.

In addition to their team awards, several dance team members were recognized on an individual level as well.  Brianna Barrett, Sage Beers, Emily Baier, Caitlyn Carlson, and Jennifer Daharsh all received showmanship ribbons, while Caitlyn Carlson, Camryn Tompkins, Nikki Kimpel, and Quincey Swanson all earned spirit ribbons.  Junior Emily Baier also received the Pin It Forward pin, awarded by a staff member for her positive attitude and leadership throughout the camp.

Senior Sage Beers and juniors Emily Holthus and Morgan Richardson were nominated for the All-American competition for their spirit, showmanship, and leadership throughout camp.  All three completed individually, and Beers and Holthus were selected to the prestigious All-American team.  The award marked Beers’ second year in a row making the team and Holthus’ first.  They were two of only ten camp participants selected for this award.  This duo also combined their efforts to earn Bronze in the camp’s Team Leader competition.

Congratulations to the Syracuse dance team for a wonderful performance at NDA camp!
