Teachers Eat Bugs to Bring Books to Classrooms
Mrs. Morris and Ms. Anderson were the “lucky” teachers who ate crickets for breakfast Thursday as part of the Bugs for Books fundraiser.
Syracuse Middle School students raised $225 during last week’s book fair as they participated in Scholastic’s All for Books program. The program helps put books in the hands of children and schools in need.
Students deposited money into teachers’ collection jars throughout the week. All money deposited in the jars went toward the purchase of books for the teachers’ classrooms. Scholastic then matched the amount raised and purchased books for schools and children in need.
So how did bugs get involved?
The teacher with the most money collected promised she would eat a bug. Since there was a tie, both teachers enjoyed a handful of crunchy crickets.
Thanks to all who participated in Bugs for Books and shopped our book fair.
