Another Successful Year for the Junior High Student Council

May 14, 2009

This has been an exciting year for the Junior High Student Council. Student council members for the 2008-2009 school year were Tyler Farley, Paige Zastera, Kaitlyn Watermeier, Nikki Riggins, Mitchell Stilmock, Harrison Agena, Shelby Burr and Julia Reed. Throughout the year, members recognized all 7th and 8th grade birthdays with a certificate and treat. Three Honor Roll celebrations were held honoring all students who made it on the honor roll for Quarters 1,2, and 3 and Semester 1. Student celebrations were a breakfast pizza party, donuts, milk and juice and a trip to the Dairy Chef. Three junior high dances were held. All admission proceeds were donated to the local food pantry along with several boxes of food. The student council members also organized a food drive in which students and their families in Grades K- 6 donated food for the Thanksgiving season. Mrs. Wolf’s class won the contest with the most pounds of food donated. Members celebrated with the class by holding a classroom party for them. Student council members purchased supplies and donated over 50 Christmas stockings filled with goodies and necessary supplies to the children and their families who would spend the holidays in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital in Omaha. The annual post card fund raiser that is held each fall for grades PK-6 raised enough funds to purchase an AED, case, alarmed wall cabinet and sign for the elementary building in Syracuse. The AED has arrived and is located in the main hallway of the Syracuse Elementary building. Members ended the year with a field trip to Boystown in Omaha, Nebraska. They enjoyed touring the campus, meeting faculty and students, and learning more about Father Flanagan’s dream. Click Here to View the Junior High Student Council Slideshow
