Syracuse Dunbar Avoca PTO Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, June 3, 2008
The meeting was called to order shortly after 6:30pm. Last meetings minutes were reviewed and approved. There were 8 members present.
Becky gave the treasurers report. Germanfest is July 19th and we have a booth, this will need to be covered from 9am-3pm Saturday. Becky asks that any volunteers who would like to help with the booth during the festival contact her. We will not have a booth at the fair this year. New designs for the apparel are being worked on and will be limited to 2-3 designs this year.
Teacher appreciation was May 4-10. Several great ideas were placed in the suggestion box. The committee reviewed them and will come up with a summary sheet to list all ideas and how they may be addressed, Traci Shipps will work on this. The candy bar bouquet was a success. Teachers were appreciative of the candy throughout the week. Thank you Tammie for your great idea and for keeping it filled. Joanna Zastera and Krista Sisco were the 2 drawing winners, both chose a $50 gas gift certificate-congratulations! They were featured in the Syracuse paper.
The Safe roads to school committee is still in the works. At next month’s meeting we will review the progress.
The 2008-9 school open house will be held Thursday, August 14 in the evening. We will be busy preparing for this during the summer. So please plan to attend some meetings to help out with new ideas.
Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, July 22nd at 6:30pm at the picnic table north of Williams Park, across from the pool. This will help those whose kids are active in activities this summer so that they can still attend meetings. We invite any parents interested in their child’s educational experience to come and participate in making it the best that we can, there are lots of opportunities to brighten their future.
