Syracuse Dunbar Avoca PTO Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

April 23, 2008

Today’s meeting was in the Unadilla library within the school.  The meeting was called to order shortly after 6:30pm.  Last meetings minutes were reviewed and approved.  There were 7 members present.

Becky gave the treasurers report.  The group sold several apparel during Parent/Teacher conferences.  We ended up with an abundance of lunch meat but otherwise the food was a success during Parent/Teacher conferences, thanks to those who donated their time and supplies to help make this successful.  It was discussed setting up a booth at Germanfest again this year, which is July 19th.  It costs $10 for the booth.

Teacher appreciation is May 4-10.  We discussed different options.  There will be a suggestion box for ideas of things that PTO can contribute or help the teachers with.  For every suggestion placed in the box, that person receives a chance to win one of the two prizes.  The more suggestions the more chances to winJ  This will be available to all teachers, one will also need to be taken over to Michelle Zoller in the Life Skills building.  May 2nd some members will get together to wrap the candy for the teachers.   These will be put out May 5-9th and the final drawing will be the 9th

Safe roads to school was discussed and a committee will be formed to work on this.  Tracy and Melissa will put together surveys to find out what people want and what their expectations are for getting a walkway over the highway.  We will continue to work on this project.

Kindergarten round-up is coming up April 11.  Tammie will put together fliers that will be available for families that evening talking about PTO and what our mission is.

Traci Reuter presented info on the April 14, “Underage Drinking Town Hall Meeting” from 7-8:30pm at First National Bank.  All are welcome.  Also the Southeast District Health Department has put together a program called “Growing Great Kids” which is a service for families who are pregnant or who have newborn babies.  She shared pamphlets and info with us today.  Also how to make referrals to this program.
