SYRACUSE FBLA EXCELS AT STATE CONFERENCE

Tyler Wellman and Rachel Watermeier qualified for the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Atlanta. Wellman placed second in Business Math out of 450 at the State Leadership Conference held in Omaha on April 3-5. Watermeier placed fourth in Spreadsheet Applications. Sarah Wellman will also be recognized at the NLC for achieving the National Business Achievement Award America Level.
Also finishing in the top eight at SLC were Traci Bassinger and Sarah Wellman, third in Desktop Publishing; Rachel Watermeier, third in Word Processing II and sixth in Computer Applications; Karena Danner and Sarah Wellman, fourth in Business Financial Plan; Danner, Kim Juilfs, and Holly Sitzman, sixth in Business Plan; Brett Copley and Andy Neels, sixth in Emerging Business Issues; Brynne Berner, Kayla Bazer, and Shelby Oelke, eighth in Business Ethics; Kayla Bazer, eighth in Accounting I and Jeremy Wilkinson, 8th in Business Calculations.
Rachel Watermeier also received the Leader level for the National Business Achievement Award and Honorable Mentions in Business Communications and Business Calculations.
Sarah Wellman was recognized for Who’s Who in FBLA and received the State FBLA Scholarship and the State PBL Scholarship. She also received an Honorable Mention Award in Word Processing II, which is a top 5% finisher.
The chapter received the Sweepstakes Award and the Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit for their Annual Report. They were recognized for their scrapbook, donating money to the March of Dimes and for coordinating the state project of collecting funds for the Nebraska FBLA Foundation.
Adviser, Susan Wellman, was recognized for completing her second three-year term on the State FBLA Board of Directors, the past two in which she has served as chairperson.
Members recognized for obtaining the All-State Quality Member Award were Traci Bassinger, Brynne Berner, Karena Danner, Kim Juilfs, Holly Sitzman, Rachel Watermeier, and Tyler Wellman.
Members also attending were Taylor Cameron, Beth Isaacs, Will Juilfs, Kelby Goering, Hillary Stubbendick, Rachel Clymer, Allison Moore, and Stephanie Rodgers
There were over 1900 students registered for the conference and in most events, students were competing against 300-400 FBLA members from across the state. When not taking tests or campaigning, members attended a variety of seminars and general sessions. Andrew McCrea was the featured speaker. Mountain Plains Regional Vice President Fei-Fei Zhang of Texas also presented a seminar in which she recognized Mountain Plains Secretary, Sarah Wellman.
