After School Clubs are going strong into the 4th Quarter

by Amanda Davis

March 13, 2008

It’s not too late for 7th and 8th Graders to get involved, and clubs are looking for more students to join!

The School Sprit Club is now into their big project of completing the middle school yearbook. This is a huge task and they did an amazing job on the yearbook last year!  The more student input and help they can get the better. We look forward to seeing the results of their work this year.  The School Sprit Club leaders are Mrs. Billy Farley and Mrs. Kristi Buller and the club meets on Mondays.

Students are really into yummy food! Cooking Club has been going great on Tuesdays.  Mrs. Beers and FCCLA student leaders have been working with the students on food safety and various cooking skills from snacks to very tempting desserts. Many of the students and staff that are around after school have enjoyed the smells from the spices and sweets.  Wednesday’s club is Game Club where skills are put to the test.  Game Club offers board games, interactive trivia, and other games of strategy.  These activities and games are always more fun with a larger group, so come check it out visit with leader Mrs. Amy Ferris today!

Mrs. Michell Zahn leads our newest club which is DI (Destination Imagination.)  Students that have come to DI and checked it out know how fun it can be!  DI is a club for any student, but if you like acting out -“who’s line is it?”, drawing and writing, and games/challenges that make you think quick on your feet, this is a club you should check out on Thursdays.

There are many benefits to participating in After School Club, primarily increased school engagement and commitment, and many of the clubs can expand their activities and be more fun with more students in them.   In the first semester we had 33 students participate in clubs and there was 341 youth service hours provided.

Invite a friend and come check them out.
